How to install jdk and java ide?

Hi.
I remember in a part of java course there was a lesson about installing java development kit and eclipse ide. But I looked at the java course again and it is gone, there is nothing about setting up java environment. I think java course got updated.
So if you explain installing jdk and eclipse I will appriciate it.

1)google 'java download'
2)select a download site
3)follow instructions
4)same for eclipse.
(ensure you pick up the right version for your OS)

It didn't work for me, all seems to be right, it says de jdk is installed but the last test with "terminal" don't show wat wikihow says and I can't find the development kit on my mac...
