Hacking does *not* mean breaking into stuff or cyber crime as Hollywood loves asserting. Just making a piece of code for a PCB you made could be considered hacking. My friends considered me a hacker just for trying to get things to do what they weren't purposed for (ex: trying to create my own OO code in C using pointers). We speak of "hacking together" some code or electronic device(s). That's the verb from which the phrase was born among students many decades back. Point is hackers are the tech lovers and, as Dayve pointed out, it's an art.
