why have to replace HTML? better to modify it with CSS and Javascript.

If you consider that XML could "replace" HTML, you should consider all documents formats displayable throug browsers: PDF, SVG and so on ^^ By the way, I don't consider there's alternative to Html/Css ( and still today not really to JS on client side ) to build "web" pages, as Html was designed for that purpose as a format ( a kind of protocol ) for "web" content description inside wich you can link others documents format :P

Even though some js framework like React.js started to focus on js coding rather then html. But will HTML be replaced? I do not think it is possible for the time being, since it's the most fundamental backbone of all web pages on internet.
