Unreal: great graphic capabilities Unity: free for the Personal Edition GameMaker: easy to use. Point and click capabilities

I agree with depthfiend & Claudio . Also take into account any conditions each engine has. such as royalties

I am currently using UE4, its good and you have no restrictions with the software, but will have to pay royalties if your game makes enough money. I looked at unity but dont like the idea of starting with the restricted free edition, I think you would have to pay to get the most out of it. But I do find c# easier than c++.
