Which programming language is best suitable for data analytics and finance

My background is actually finance. I have always wondered if there is a specific programming language that I should learn that will kind of correlate with my primary academic knowledge. This days there is a fusion between Business and IT. I know SQL manages data, infact almost all financial software relate with SQL at some point. What language is best combined as a learning focus.

SAS, R and Python are the main data analytical languages.

In my job (data analyst) I use SAS, but I decided to start learning Python too so I could do things outside of analytics. SAS is used purely for analysis whereas Python is general purpose (so you can do pretty much anything with it).
