p. correponds to PARAGRAPH with CLASS name p.list for example, its a paragraph with a class name "list" in your HTML

When class is used, p. Classname is used for the respective class

The "p" stands for the <p> element. It is the element that is being styled.

Not all CSS classes have element p. Maybe you've not seen enough projects, see more projects, create some yourself and see if its everything that has a p

p. is a class of paragraph the class name gives you location of what paragraph you are trying to manipulate (multiple classes can be manipulated under one class from css)
