React is frontend framework what help you make aplication/compex websites easier. You can also choose Angular or Vue... Node.js is backand language based on javascript. For backand you can also use Python, Java, Ruby... There is no rule what to learn first, if you plan to make websites what store user data to database you need backand. But if you wanna be good frontend programmer learn some frontend framework first, today this is very important skill, and there is no job offer without them. Both frontend and fullstuck jobs need frameworks like React, Angular or Vue (there is also more, but this 3 are most popular today) My choice was React(It have syntax basad on javascript, no much new things added), and i followed course from freeCodeCamp, now i learning node.js (I already know js, so it will be easier to learn node.js than to master another programming language and use it for backend)
