Apps for android

Does anyone here develop apps for Android ? if so, do you do it for yourself, work for hire or both? I'm learning Java by myself with this app and a few books and I want to know if it's really worth diving deeper into Android, maybe develop some apps of my own or work as a freelancer. thank you for your replies.

I've got a couple of apps in the play store but like @Hassie it's just a hobby for me at the moment (they're both free so I'm not making any money from them...but who knows, I may spend some time developing something better in the future)

Hey, I do develop Android apps and I do it by myself. Basically Android app development is like my hobby, it's what I do in my spare time. I learnt it myself and there's nothing stopping you digging deeper into Android. Once you practice, you'll pick up basic elements and soon enough you'll be making advanced apps. Here is one of my app I've developed myself: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.hassie.widget.pixelpill

As @Shane, the apps I've developed are free only. The problem is that on the Play Store, the developer has to pay tax to all the separate countries where your app is purchased. And for someone, who would make little amounts of money, it's very difficult to do that.
