How to start working if I learn programming on my own?

Probably the main question for all beginners. I learn to code using free souces I found in the Internet (Sololearn is the best, huh). So, the question to more experienced coders: how long did it take to start earning money? And how to jump over this gap between simple exercises and working on a real project? Thx for your answers, and sorry for my bad English:)

I'm a self-taught and I've learned from the net. My first income came from CMS. I made a website using WordPress. Then I decided to learn more about Websites. So I learned HTML-CSS-JavaScript-PHP-MySQL I understood how CMS works. But I didn't make website with them. Then I tried Python and Ruby. Very beautiful programming languages. But I decided to stay at JavaScript and it's frameworks - libraries.

One of the most exciting questions here in SL. It's surprising that it's not trendy yet. Gonna re-ask the same thing if the topic stays still. Норм у тебя английский.
