Please stop saying that wordpress is a CMS, it is a publishing system, that people force to evolve as a CMS. For a web app I would prefer Directus, but it is headless and might be a bit difficult. Contao is fairly easy to develop extensions for. If your app is all around a blog, then yes, wordpress is the right choose for you.
