Web Development or Software Development?

I can't make my mind up as to whether to go for web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL etc) or go for software development (Python, C# etc). Can someone give me some advantages/disadvantages to their choice and why? Thanks in advance!

Well, I am learning Python too. However I will learn Java or C# or C++ in the future because game development is my passion. Python is a really good language for beginners, and you can evem create games, but it is slow.. It does not mean it is not the right language for you, it is actually helpful.. It is like the spoken languages... Even if you won't use often French (for example) it might help you when you need it...

Well, it only depends what you truly want to do. If you like both you can do both... For example I've chosen both... I like both of them. The web development has many advantages. You do not need special education or special university... You get paid for what you know, not your diploma. Many businesses are looking for web developers as websites are a really good way to promote their bussinesses. On the other hand, software development is more creative than websites. Let's take Fifa... You cannot code that in HTML and Javascript. Seriously... The jobs in software development are really secure... However, software development is more stressful than web development Hope that helps :)

That's really helpful, thanks! What languages would you recommend for software development? I'm currently learning Python but I'm not too sure that It's the right language for me.
