Is MEAN stack a fad?

So I hear that MEAN stack is very popular nowadays and how many big companies like UBER and Google have their sites developed using MEAN. Is it true or just a fad ?

Well... My personal biased opinion is that most stacks are fads. Frameworks come and go. The basics never go out of style though... So just stick to js, CSS, html and ruby.
