what should be the max size of an image if i want to use it in a website?

i had uploaded an image from my device which is 186 kb. but it doesnt get shown. is there a size limit? if there is what is the max limit? also how to get the image into the size?

i used google drive to upload an image. but it is not showing. but if i click open image in a new tab it is shown

You can specify image size according to window of device.
