define what you mean by leaderboard? I am sure you must have played a multiplayer game, or even on sololearn you can see one leaderboard that keeps account of the xp gained by users globally and locally , just have a look at them ,they aren't some "magically generated objects"

If you know basics of js you can create a static( possibly you will want a dynamic one that will last even when the user leaves the browser for that you might need to learn node js so you can store the data in file )
