Python is often used in research institutions because it provides many interfaces for the visualization of data dependencies.

C++ for coding microprocessor. Plus it can do almost anything with this lower-level language. Python would be second but it is a higher-level language. It runs off of C++. Which leads back to learning C++ first. Whatever you choose, stick with it and this will help you learn other languages easier. A lot of different languages are close in syntax. So, gaining a good understanding of one language will increase your learning of others. Good luck.

Definitely python and you can also try C++ as it plays an important role in design and can help you.
