If you are interested in the web developing and web design then you need one of the web editors there are many examples like "atom ,brackets, vs code ,notepad++". If you're interesting in studying java so you need one of these programming environments "Eclipse , apache netbeans" if you are interested in learning c,c++ you need "code blocks " And so on it varies depending on your interest "

You can use an app to code. But depends on the language. You can also get it online. Just search in Safari or Chrome or anything!
