Well, nowadays software development has reached almost every industry and study field you can think of, whether it's through automation, processing big volumes of data, building data models, performing lab tests, or simply replacing a task that was made on a different way, working as a software developer, depending on what languages you know and which way you guide your career, you can end up working on different fields applying your knowledge. Also, if you only want to, let's say, work for software factories and don't go outside that kind of jobs, you'll end up having a deep approach to different industries by getting to know the business need related to the software you are working on. So, jo matter if you are looking to apply your software development skills on a purely IT environment, or on a non-IT related environment that can benefit from different types of perks of the capabilities of scripting and software, you'll most likely end up grabbing some knowledge related to other disciplines.

And of course if you mean within IT itself, software development skills can be applied in almost any other area, from monitoring to security, with the correct knowledge you can play a role on almost any part of an IT department, but obviously that would depend on the rest of the knowledge you have on a specific area.
