Žï¢čø meta tag use for many purpose but mostly use in SEO (Search Engine Optimization), to get ranking of website etc. There can be different content type of meta tag. As you mentioned with question here meta content type is "width=<device-width, initial-scale=1.0". It means any size of device will automatically adjusts your web page according to screen size means content will not overflow.

It makes sure the website is RESPONSIVE. it can display properly on different screen sizes whether Desktop, Tablet or Mobile, maintaining the same layout.
