Embedded Systems is a worth domain as a programmer? Automotive or IoT?

It is probably not a coincidence that C is listed as fastest growing on the fresh Tiobe list, ranking close 2nd after Java. I think IoT is all the rage now, smart gadgets, smart homes, smart cities, and lots of business and industrial applications. So Embedded Systems looks definitely an exciting area for the future, if you are interested in it.
