By drawing it, the analyst is analyzing in his/her brain the flow of the program. He/She does not need to retype it, but draw the logic for better interpretation. Without manipulating and interrogating code on a computer, the analyst can erase (scratch out) code quickly, draw branches off code for exploration. Visual representation has always been a learning tool. Children in a classroom learn words or other language words with pictures associated.
