You can compare the languages, but it's probably more useful to compare their intended uses. Most computer languages can substitute for each other, but most are especially good at some objective. Javascript is easy to characterize: it's the language typically used to automate web pages. It was designed for this, and other components of web publishing were designed for use with Javascript. Python was designed to be an easy-to-learn, easy-to-use, general-purpose language. It soon became a favourite of high school teachers and college professors. Today, it is the most commonly taught first language in high schools and colleges around the world. Because of that, employers discovered almost all their new hires knew Python. They realized writing code in Python is much quicker than writing in most other languages, and the code is easier to review and maintain. So, it has become one of the most commonly used languages in the real world tool. A huge number of libraries has been written for it, making it incredibly flexible, including in emerging areas like big data and AI. These two languages are not going away any time soon. If you will be doing any front-end web development, you will need Javascript. Python will be useful for many things. Unless you know you will be doing front-end web dev, I'd suggest Python first.

If you want to be a developer of web pages you have Python is stronger in this area, but if you want to program applications and games you have Javascript is better in this area it is about what you want to program

Web or data science? It depends on the application. What I mentioned were just two use cases. There are many more.
