Doing your hobby things will improve your efficiency in that work which you don't like example if you don't like your Job means who like to do job they like the salary at the end of month they get so if they are doing these things which makes them happy its positive effect comes also in their important works like other play sports at morning to enjoy and After they go to job its make their life more awesome so always follow your hobbys

I have a friend which is competing amateur boxing division at very high level. And he build c# apps at his free time. So I think its possible.

Programming can help you - did you even think about apps behind fitness watches and armbands? Try some of them, maybe with your smartphone instead the real watch or band and go running. There is a lot of interesting apps with very interesting stastisics - e.g. simple Endomondo or Strava with great statistics. Behind each activity there are people who understand physical activities ans people who can program these devices. So, you can find your place by using your knowledge in sports and programming. There are many other useful programs insports and fitness industry, not just smartphone apps - take a look around yourself :-)
