Why is this so common on Sololearn?

Why do so many people 'steal' or simply just 'borrow' code from other people and then save it publicly? Some times even the same code twice or 3 times in a row. It does not make any sense and it actually polutes the lists! Perhaps it has to do with default settings? Or are people so eager to publish stolen codes? What is your opinion on this? I'm quite curious.

Technically any and all code saved on here that are listed as public is classed as open source. Therefore people are free to copy and alter any published code as they see fit. Does it polute the listings. Yes I feel many do it simply to get badges. Others maybe to play with the code and they do not understand the difference between public and private. Who knows.
