HTML 5 or JavaScript????

I started to learn HTML about a week ago. Now, I've reached upto HTML 5. But, API requires a bit of JavaScript which I know absolutely nothing about! So, I was wondering weather I should first learn JS and then come back to HTML 5 or should I just skip the sections including API and continue with HTML5???

I started learning JavaScript recently and I’ve gone back to learning as much about HTML5 and CSS3 to have a better foundation. I would highly recommend having at least a solid base knowledge of HTML 5 before digging into JavaScript and CSS as well. Think of HTML as the structure and content of a website, CSS as the styling and physical appearance, and JavaScript as the behaviour and functions.
