Which linux OS is best for developers?

It depends of your knowledge of Linux. If you're new to Linux, you'd better use something like Ubuntu, OpenSuSE... But if you've got a good understanding of Linux, you'd prefer Debian, Arch Linux or Gentoo Linux. But every distro could do the trick, since they come installed with at least one text editor (usually, Vim), and you can install so many programming tools - I know that in KDE, there is a good one (Kate), plus an IDE (KDevelop). It depends of your needs and predilections, so it is a question that you must look at deeper by yourself. Have fun!

Personally, I use Ubuntu 16.04. My recommendation would be either that or 18.04. Do some research on compatibility with whichever softwares you want to use, but either one should work fine.
