What is the difference between the canvas and SVG ?

What is the difference between the canvas and SVG ?, although have the same use. Html

SVG is not pixel based, meaning you can zoom in as far as you'd like without any loss of quality, but Canvas on the other hand, is pixel base and loses quality by zooming in. That is what I got out of it, but I am sure there is more to it than that. SVG was also easier for me to comprehend lol
