Look into Kali Linux or BackTrack 5 is agood place to start... learning python will be helpfull but it can never hurt to learn as many languages as possible. it all depends on what you want to do, saying I want to learn to hack is like saying I want to learn how everything works. well.. everything works differently. so choose somewhere to focus on like password cracking or packet sniffing and learn as much as you can about that topic before you move on to the next. Pentesting takes alot of time and patience to learn so i suggest breaking it down for yourself as much as possible and research how the tools your using work and not just how to use them. this will help you understand what is actually happening and help you understand the concepts rather than just the usage wich will be useful in the future when you come across similar tools or misbehaving code.

and also.. the term 'hacker' is incredibly broad and can range from social engineering to mechanical manipulation so if your thinking of hacking various networks and computer systems you should look into becoming a Penetration Tester or pentester...sorry to add that in but i get annoyed when people use the term hacker too loosly lol
