How to develop complete apps on your own?

Question

Either for practicing or publishing, designing an app or game is very hard, even more than programming it. How do I get ideas and inspiration for creating new projects? What things should I do for improving my programming skills if I don't have good ideas?
I know web programming, C/C++, Java + Swing, Android... I want to practice and code projects that will give me more knowledges and experience.

Good question, honestly I am not very creative visually. I like the computer security and in my case what inspires me are the codes of the other pentesters, I am interested in how they work and I imagine how I could improve it. I created several useful tools for myself, but the truth is that I have a long way to go
