GNU is a free (as in free speech, not free beer) Operating System created by Richard Stallman, based on the Unix system. But in order to function properly, it needs a core component that operates the hardware, called the kernel. Linus Trovald wrote the kernel that later was made free and implemented with GNU. that system is know today as GNU/Linux. Its mostly know as simply as Linux, but it is important to notice that Linus worked on the kernel only and the base system was made by Stallman and the GNU foundation. And note that the GNU mascot is a Gnu, not a penguin! im a big fan of both Linus and Stallman, but often the credit goes only to Linus, but he did NOT made the whole system, only the trickiest low level part, the kernel.

@Ravikumar Ronad wrote: "wiki showing only this 👉 GNU's Not Unix but what is Actual full form of GNU ?" This is the actual ( and always was ) full form of 'GNU', as it's a recursive accronyme: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recursive_acronym
