Solid alternatives to php?

What are some solid alternatives to PHP? Googling suggests Django and Ruby on Rails. Are there any other viable and easy to learn alternatives?

My opinion is that learning Ruby will benefit you most in the long run. Python is a close second. While PHP is far down on the list. My entry into the world of building dynamic websites was with PHP. There's a lot of resources available to help you write bad, beginner PHP code, which you may need to "un-learn" in order to become a more proficient programmer.

If you are comfortable with python, Django is a good option. Ruby on rails is good too, but I'm comfortable with Python so can't say much. Alternatives are Java, Node.js, .Net etc. But you should be comfortable with the language or the language used by the framework you choose.
