In case the image cannot be displayed, the alt attribute specifies an alternate text that describes the image in words. The alt attribute is required.

Yes it will run but if a user for some reason cannot view it (because of slow connection, an error in the srcattribute, or if the user uses a screen reader).then alt attribute provide alternate information
