Shudarshan Rai 👑 is almost correct. Although, there can be different explanations.. Most of the software that we use is compiled (language dependent), but websites are not. If your software runs in a browser environment, then it can be considered as a website. There are web apps too, like google docs and many more, which behave like a software (in terms of functionality) but in browser. Then there are web assembly, when enables compiled language such as C++ to run in browser.
