W3Schools is an educational website for learning web technologies online. Content includes tutorials and references relating to HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, PHP, Python, AngularJS, SQL, Bootstrap, Node.js, jQuery, XQuery, AJAX, XML, and recently they included Java also. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/W3Schools

W3C stands for World Wide Web Consortium, a committee that defines the standards for the web. http://www.w3.org/Consortium/ Without those standards we could not use different browsers to display the same result (e.g. imagine the <form> tag would be <formular> in chrome, <form> for Firefox and <f> for opera...a disaster that would make cross-browser website development a pain)
