People always ask if they can learn HTML 5 and ignore HTML 4 ? Guess what ?

well , just give it a little think . do you think that the professionals of web dev didn't learn the old versions ? do you think that they just jumped over HTML 4 or CSS 2 ? this is a stupid idea to start coding , BTW how you gonna figure out the differences between HTML 4 and 5 or CSS 2 or 3 without learning both versions ? come on guys ! . tell me how ?.

>> do you think that they just jumped over HTML 4 or CSS 2 ? Yes. I don't learn deprecated tags from html4- (but I know about some of them). Html 5 is just latest version of html and there's no point in learning old version of it.

in order to know the differences you have to care about old versions , believe it or not .

Learning older versions give you basic knowledge and the newer version explains what is modified in the older version and that's the POINT .

I get your point @Abdel but that's not a valid reason I don't think for learning older versions right off the bat. Very few sites care about versions of IE older than 10 (which has great HTML 5 support). This is forcing the remaining legacy browser supporters to upgrade or be left behind. If everyone supports HTML 5 then who cares what the differences between 4 and 5 are? The interest is purely going to be academic or for weird situations. Why inundate new users with things they shouldn't be using when they're likely overwhelmed with the basics. As previously stated, there is little point in learning a deprecated and obsolete API.
