Hiya Pat1221! i asked people this question a long time ago, looking for a shortcut to success. Well pal, there's only one thing for it: Practice, practice and of course, practice there is no shortcut to success. You have to apply and in time you will become your definition of "expert". It could take you a year or it could take a million. it all depends on your dedication and how much time you give to each. I have faith friend that you will succeed. Just don't give up and you will bear the fruits of labor. Happy Coding!

Honestly, I would recommend buying a programming textbook for each language, reading it and doing the examples (it's not exactly fun, but you will learn) for unity and unreal 3D, youtube has plenty of step-by-step tutorials. If you're looking for a good C++ book, I would suggest Starting Out With C++ by Gaddis. It's a little old, but it breaks things down and explains why some programming things in c++ are the way they are. I was originally assigned that book for college but never really read it until about a year ago when I wanted to get back into programming and it is awesome. I hope this helped
