Is it useful to know all the programming languages or is it better to stick to two or three?

Today I was wondering a lot about the programming languages and I was wondering if it is useful to learn every programming language on SL or is just a couple good enough. This is not the first time I've wondered about this. Any opinion is welcome.

There's an old popular saying among the shaolin monks that "Iam not afraid of a man who has practiced thousand moves one time, but iam afraid of someone who has practiced one move a thousand time"

You will likely only need a couple of languages in your career. My first wife only used one (Cobol). Most of my career was C++ (last 3/4 of second and all of third job,) with a lot of others tossed in that I could have never used without effecting my career. The other two I really used in my career was Cobol (first job) and Pascal (first 1/2 of second job.)

So just one or two for career. Thing is at the moment programming is a hobby of mine but I'm looking at an other direction for a career. Basically I wanna program in what spare time I'll have and maybe release some useful programs like a music player or mini game. Still I see the point you guys are making and if I think about it you're right...now I just need to find a programming language that will suite me well in my future projects
