Need a suggestion about choosing a language

I need to choose between php and python
I thought python is good but don't if it is efficient for sort of web development

The both a great but the most common configuration for website use PHP not Python. But Python is oftenly use to create some script on server. So PHP for website and Python for managing server. It's just my point of view. The both are good. The most important is to have a language you like to use.

I run some websites (okay all of my websites) with Python + Django which makes Python scripts perfectly fine for web.
The downside of Python is that some hosters, especially those who offer just a PHP interpreter for your website won't support Python.
