If you lose a challenge do you lose something or not?

It depends, if you lose a challenge with a person who is better than you or stronger than you, you will earn some XP. But if you lose against someone who is less stronger than you, you will lose XP.

it really matters with whom you play challenge...

you are not expected to loose challenge with the person having less XP than you for selected language... total points for challenge bonus is 32...you can earn min 1xp to win or lose max 31xp for defeat in a challenge as challenge bonus...

however, for each right answer of challenge questions, you get +1 XP irrespective of the opponent XP...
