Does learning C gives a better understanding of C++?

Well, I learned a little about C++ around 6 years ago and I almost forgot everything as I stopped using it. However, I am now eager to gain deeper insights into this programing language as I will probably need it in the near future. I want to use this programming language for mostly numerical methods that solve a certain scientific problem so my main concern is about performance in calculations. They say that C++ has come into existence mainly based on C. So I was wondering that if learning the C language is suitable for this purpose or not?

No, not anymore. In fact, some efficient C practices are consided bad C++ practices. Read More here : https://stackoverflow.com/questions/598552/should-i-learn-c-before-learning-c Also, refer to the following link: https://www.sololearn.com/discuss/1409728/?ref=app
