What are cookies and what is it's use ?? Please explain.

Isn't a data that is stored on website so they can make "better" choices for you? E.g.
You checked price for airplane travel from London to Tokyo yesterday (wednesday) and it was £1000 (i completely made it up). Now it is thursday and you will notice that price could grow a little or lower a little bit so - as you should think - you have to buy it because the price may grow again or wait but in that case you risk raising or lowering.
It is something like that as for what i was taught. If i am mistaken simply correct me and explain what did i do wrong. Cheers ^^
