Well sublime text or atom works, but you still need a browser to render the code.

Any normal editor is possible in html, incl. notepad.
But for me, sublime text is my favorite, because atom take so much resource, my second best is bracket and notepad++.
notepad++ is so underestimated right now, but I personally think it's a very good editor, there's macro in it, and my favorite is lightning fast when opening the app.
