If it doesn't allow you to submit your answer, it means that your answer is incomplete. Things can get tricky around "fill in the blanks" question.

I presume you mean while doing lessons and your trying to answer one of the questions along the way.

If you answer correctly you get a small amount of XP.

If you choose to show the answer, it's just warning you that you won't get the XP I mentioned above.
