Gimp is good if you want to draw bitmaps and edit photos has a large array of features and is also free. if you want vector you could try InkSkape it also free and opensource https://inkscape.org/en/ microsoft expression design is also a good choice tho it does offer a lot there is no support for SVG but that a side it a really nice and easy to use vector program. If you want to pay a little Corel Draw is a good choice for vector costs about ÂŁ70 or serif draw plus I got this cheap on amazon for ÂŁ19 and is a good program. other than that there is adobe but be prepared to pay

Inkscape is the bomb! Best vector graphics hands down. As for bitmaps: GIMP is good but user-unfriendly compared to Photoshop. But if you _seriously_ want to draw or paint, Krita is the winner: https://krita.org Made _for_ artists. Basically GIMP/PS focus on _editing_ whereas Krita focuses on _drawing_.
