Trying to learn software development skills, please help

Question

Thank you for taking your time and reading this, anyways I'm a bit new to programming and only really studied some Java/HTML. I'm trying to change that and focus my college major on everything to do with software development so my question is where is the best place to start, What language should I focus on more than anything and how much time should I invest on learning that language. For example, if you suggest Python where can I learn everything that has to do with Python, how much time should I invest in it and where is the best place to start off. Anyways thank you for your time!
