Is is mandatory to be good at maths in order to be a good coder and an algorithm writer?

What I really wanna know is about how one can become good at algorithm writing? e.g. How to look at the given problem? how to break the problem into solution? Is there lot of paper work involved? maths involved? please guide.

You will get good at algorithm writing by studying algorithms and practice coding. As a side effect, this may even improve your math skills!

There are specific areas of maths that will be useful, but not maths overall. Look up decision / discrete maths.
