hi madman, in 99% of this case i hear that some people begining to programm for made a game they want made a 3d game. this is the first step write it on a paper to hold the idea for later. 2nd beginn to reprogramm a game like tetris or tic tac toe. this one will be important to realize how long time you will need to develop this game and thrn you can calculate how long you will be with a 3d game. i said to people how wants made a game start with unreal engine this is blue print and ther is a good documentation. wenn you do that you get feeling how mutch work is it to make a game. dont give up at this point. if you want develop some fetaues with c++ you can implement it in the unreal engine. my best practice is try it. for more information watch my profil i comment some threads with the same queation have fun dont give up
