what is the best programming language to develop android applications?

It will be my first app. im some what familiar with C++, and Matlab. From my engineering classes. Thank you!

For developing quality android programs is the prime java. Sure, you can use others languages }C++, C#, ..- when you find a good tool and description how to do it.
Because, and there is a deal of java too. There is not enought to learn the programming language (like here in course). For developing android programs is neccessary to learn extended libraries and frameworks. This is a long way. Good luck and keep in..
But, if you wanna to do only a simple program to class. Maybe it would be better using a simpler way. For example HTML+Javascript. Or Python..
