how do you solve a particular problems or what's your style for solving any problems

here is my

1. identity the problems
2. break into sub problems
3. find each solution for each sub problems
4. gather all solution together and done it
5. if needed i use pen paper

Practice various solved examples from internet, participate in coding competitions, first start with small scale competitions, then go for higher one slowly.
