Questioning Myself

I am a trucker attempting to learn my way to a new career. My life situation changed about nine months ago when my wife was diagnosed with end stage renal failure. So now for the ask... In these courses, will I attain the level of knowledge I am seeking? If not, what would I need to study in addition to the material on this site? Also, is there a place where I can find "worksheet" style material to test both knowledge and practical application? Know that my free time is limited. I have about one to two hours daily for study and the weekends I have off I can dedicate more time. I would be grateful for any help. Thankyou and be safe.

Programming is a large field that is evolving daily. The languages that you want to learn depend on what you want to do. Are you an artsy person, or an arduous problem solver? If artsy, then you want Web Development; which is HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. You can learn the basics here, and then switch to w3schools.com for more! If you are a problem solver and want to develop software applications, games, and or drivers then you want Java/C++/or C. You can learn the basics here, but then you will have to learn the specific modules/libraries of the languages depending on what you want to develop exactly. There is not much "paper based" work that can be done with programming, since it is strictly based on computer application, however; there are books on some of the languages.

Well, java is good for android, and I believe swift is used for Apple, but I’m not completely sure about that. As for games, the Unity game engine, is free as long as you make less than $100,000 a year from them, and it makes it very easy to make games.

You are very welcome! If you need any more help please don’t hesitate to ask, and I have been using Unity for a while, so while not perfect, I can usually help. Btw, you said you’re a truck driver, ever been through Iowa?

Can I ask what system you target these apps for? And are they games, or various apps?
