Arushi about the members,asphalt8 took 352 different people to work on that single game(let's exclude people who finance the game). Some people work on map, graphics, sound, helpcentre, lighting and soo many stuff.not sure about clash of clans

games like that take more than 8 months to be developed and a very heavy budget

Some of the programming you could do yourself its the art side of it which could be a problem i was looking at some of the objects they have in the game and they all follow a certain theme (clash of clash art style) and attention to detail, stuff like this could take you years to design on your own it would be pointless to consider making a game this big without a team of professionals in all criterias.

hey Anvil, if wanting to build a game like Clash of clans and wanna know the time taken to develop such games. The time varies depending on whether you using third party tools or you starting from scratch and the amount of people but here is what i'll suggest especially if you are wanting to do it alone. Though i dont think you'll manage to do a game like Clash of clans Anyways: Use a third party framework or game engine and some free tools to speed up development. if its your first time developing then start off with building games like simple match 3's, space shooters, pet caring games and tycoon games or even point and click or text-based games or maybe even card games and then move on to strategy games. there is actually a lot of strategy and tower defense games out there that have been developed solely but they are not as good as Clash of clans. I mean as in the graphics, good connection with multiplayer and so on. like said supercell uses a 3d engine to animate graphics and then uses them to turn them into 2d sprites. if you interested in such activity i can suggest a game template for you but it requires you to download the Corona SDK at www.coronalabs.com in order to test it. this game is indie developed and its strategy. you can find it on google play store ,name is: diptera and its open source so you can find its code on github ( https://github.com/VaclavPlajt/diptera ) , publisher's name is Vaclav Plajt and he used blender ( software for rendering 3d graphics ) to render his graphics and python scripts to turn into 2d images. All the files are in the source code on github. So you can view anything from there and it didnt take him too long to make the game. Another strategy game but it isnt like Clash of clans is Plague Inc. which is indie developed. And there is lots more to be named.my point is that if you put effort and can understand that you will need a lot of time and energy to make such games alone then fine do so, but actually dont it'll be frustrating.Answering your question: long bro

To develop a game like clash of clans, you will need very advanced programming knowledge. Moreover, a team of 5-10 members working very hard for 10-12 months with a high budget can create it. Also, maintaining it will be a great challange.

With a team of hundreds it takes a couple of years. I team of 500 people working daily every single day develop a call of duty in an average of 5 years. Mobile games usually take less time since they dont need as much attention as the major xbox and playstation titles such as call of duty and fallout, By yourself, to make a good app, I would have to say any where from 7 - 15 months; however, with a team, it doesnt even have to be a big team, you could release it within about 4 - 5 months unless you are grinding like crazy you might be able to release it within about 2 months but that would be crazy hard.
